One of the flies which Andy never seems to take off these days – a deadly bug for the grub-munchers all year round! A trout pattern of huge repute, this chunky grub is great in the heavier riffles and tumbles, where fish lie in high oxygen water waiting for food to snatch at – this thing gets seen! Also an incredibly effective grayling pattern during the colder months, where food is scarce and a big morsel seems to get the ladies on the move. We’ve even caught barbel on these, it’s a real all-rounder.
Tied on a lovely sharp grub hook, in just the right sizes, this is a modern day classic pattern. Tied chunky, just like the natural, we use a top quality dubbing blend from the Czech Republic to get just the right translucence to this fly. Vinyl D-Rib gives a lovely segmentation to the body, and then the little kicker – that orange collar, just behind a super heavy tungsten bead. It’s a recipe for good times, one which we’ve worked really hard to get just right!
Great on a euro rig, equally as home on an indicator set up. Andy has been using these as the top dropper in a 2 fly indicator rig for grayling for years – it’s a chunky meal which they seems to be very willing to intercept!
