When we made the original packs, it was a big call to put a red tag in each one, but one which we think was totally justified – it’s a red tag, it’s THE grayling fly! The Contrast Red Tag differs from the Soft Red Tag in weight and design, and is a fish catcher in it’s own right. This version is more heavily dressed in the tag, which makes it more visible. The black body and collar dubbing really stands out in all but the worst of river conditions, making it a staple murky water fly. That said, in most conditions this is a terrifically effective fly for both grayling and trout, and no river anglers fly box should be without the red tag at any time of year – tie them on and fish with confidence!
