IB wanted a do-all Red Tag, something with that classic shape and attractor, but with enough weight to get down in to the strike zone, without being too aggressive in the materials. She couldn’t find what she wanted, so she designed her own! A total classic, IB’s Red Tag has caught so many trout and grayling, it’s a complete confidence fly for all game species.
Of course, that GloBrite red tag is an essential, but beyond that there’s a subtle faded gold tungsten bead, a lovely natural hare’s fur blend in the body, a waft of CDC for profile and movement, and then just a touch of contrast with the UV black collar behind the bead. It’s got the lot!
You can fish these on a euro rig, they’re heavy! The heavier pattern is a nailed on point fly, the lighter two as point flies or droppers. They’ll all hunt on an indicator rig, and you could also use the lightest fly under a Duo dry fly – the options are endless!
